Starsoccer is Delaware County’s oldest soccer club and East-Central Indiana’s most successful program. The club was founded in 1990 and now uses the best soccer facility in the area; the Muncie Sportsplex. The Starsoccer Club provides area youth with training in the many aspects of the game of soccer. We strive to develop self-discipline, dedication, and confidence in each athlete. In order to achieve these goals, Starsoccer’s service extends beyond practice and game time. Starsoccer, in conjunction with the state ‘parent’ association, supports goalie training, the
Olympic Development Program, coaching seminars, and field trips to professional soccer games.
Starsoccer is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501c(3) organization dedicated to teaching the game of soccer to the youth of Delaware County, Indiana.
An interested child can participate in one of three programs depending on their age, interest, and level of skill. The recreation program is specifically designed for younger children ages 3 to 14 to foster exercise, healthy competition, and basic soccer skills. The travel program is for children ages 8-17 who wish to play at a more competitive level. The Muncie Family YMCA Indoor Soccer Program is an indoor soccer league formed with the collaboration of the Muncie Northwest YMCA.
There are several factors that separate Starsoccer from other clubs. Starsoccer works hard to be cost effective. For example, while striving to compete with some of the state’s best clubs a Starsoccer travel player pays less than one half of that compared to players who participate with clubs in Indianapolis, Carmel, Ft. Wayne, South Bend, or Noblesville. A Starsoccer recreational player also pays less than the players who participate in top notch programs associated with those same clubs. Also, in the spring of 2005 Starsoccer awarded over $2500 in scholarship money. Starsoccer believes that certain costs are necessary to support a competitive program but that they should never be a barrier to the wishes of any child, therefore, Starsoccer also offers scholarships to make it possible for more children to play recreational and club soccer. These programs provide a well-rounded experience for children and help to foster a lifetime love of soccer.
